Harrell Fine Art is delighted to present INVOCATION, a conversation between classical African Sculpture and the paintings of New York based artist Aiden Niepold.

African highlights include a highly important Kongo-Yombe nkisi nduda power figure from the Clausmeyer collection; a newly discovered Guro gou mask attributed to the Master of Niembo Atelier; a fine Fang eyema byeri figure; a newly discovered and important Kissi pom'kandya altar acquired in situ by William Siegmann, 1965-1968; a superb wooden bust attributed to Dan master sculptor Si (ca. 1900-ca.1980) of Nyor Diaple, Liberia.

Also on view will be a suite of recent paintings by artist Aiden Niepold (b. 1997). Each painting in this series is a trace of meditative action-rooted in Niepold's Rinzai Zen practice, where presence is recorded through rhythmic, intentional brushstrokes that emphasize the physical act over aesthetic outcome.
